A new year

For those of you who didn’t notice, 2007 has arrived. A whole new year lies ahead full of research, other work activities and hopefully a lot of nice social events as well (read: Partying!!).

Right now most of my time is spent on writing research proposals. Part of this will form my PhD research. I can’t tell too much about it right now (I need the scholarships/funding first) but all in all it’s quite exciting.

But even though it is all exciting I seem to be in a bit of a performance-block right now. (I don’t know how else to call it). My motivation to work isn’t really high at the moment and I feel really tired. Perhaps it’s just the relaxation of vacation, combined with the total absence of sunlight. I think I might pick up some exercising again. Running or something like that. I still don’t have my inline skates here, but it’s not the weather for skating either. Or perhaps it’s caused by a lack of vitamins. Even though I eat a large amount of fruit and vegetables. I don’t know, let’s see how exercising works out for me.

I still didn’t start my French course. After the first cancelation it was supposed to start on the 8th of January. But this week I received a letter stating that the course got canceled again and now will start on the 5th of February. So I will have to wait for another month. This is actually not such a bad thing since a lot of my Friends will be gone in February. So I can keep myself busy by studying French.

I’ve also finally ordered some furniture at IKEA, so I will soon be able to really start decorating my apartment. Quite a nice idea. I will post a picture once it’s looking reasonably nice in here. I hope it will be soon, because I would like to invite some friends over for a dinner on day. Nothing big, just to celebrate having a place of my own.

Well, I have lots more to tell, but I will stop here for now. I still have some work to do.
