Still here

It has been a loooooooooong time ago since I last posted something here about myself. So how am I doing? Quite okay actually. Work is really busy at the moment and my personal life is starting to get more active again as well. So my days are fully packed. Of course part of this is due to the French course as well on Monday and Wednesday evenings. This is actually quite a lot of fun. I don’t have the confidence yet to start blogging in French, but at least I understand a bit more. I have signed up for the next part of the course again to increase my knowledge a bit more so perhaps I will pick up French after all.

As for work I haven’t been doing a lot of development lately. It has mostly been proposal writing. There are two new EU proposals I’m working on and I have submitted a personal proposal for the Microsoft Research European PhD Scholarship. That last one is the most exciting for me as I have spent a hell of a lot of time on it to shape it in such a way that I like it. I hope to get accepted, but I’m not very confident. I won’t discuss the content here because I don’t want to jinx it, but I’ll keep you posted on the result.

Something that I can tell about my work is that I will soon be working on GPU physics. We have some ideas to improve the performance of some libraries we’ve developed inside MIRALab by employing the GPU for specific calculations. This is something I’m pretty enthusiastic about. There is still quite a lot to research in that area and with the ever evolving hardware this is a perfect way to stay up-to-date.

On April 4th I will leave to Berlin for the WP3 meeting of the EPOCH project. Not bad at all. I get to travel to Berlin and MIRALab is paying. What more can I wish for. (Well, Argentina would be nice….) I have the meeting on the 5th and will return to GE on the 7th. So I will take the 6th to do some site-seeing. All tips are welcome. ;) By the way, for those that didn’t notice it yet, I have updated my photo gallery with some pictures of the conference I attended in Villars-sur-Ollon and I have put some pictures online that Mustafa made when we were saying goodbye to Clementine. You can check them out at http://bart.kevelham.com/gallery.

Well, that’s all I have to say for now. I hope to update this place more frequently in the future. So keep an eye on this page. :)
