Forgive me the somewhat suggestive title of this post. Let me explain.
Some time ago Chase Jarvis posted some of his winter images on his blog. And in what was somewhat of a farewell to the winter he invited his followers to post some of their favorite winter images in the comments. With winter being my favorite season, how could I pass up on this opportunity. One of the images I posted was this one from Lac Leman, or Lake Geneva at night.
Now, several weeks later, he followed up on his post. And to my great surprise my winter shot is part of his favs gallery. (Go check out the others as well) Picture number 12 to be precise. Now how cool is that? I’m glad that my shot is not just enjoyed by me but by others as well. And to have it end up among some of the other awesome shots selected by Chase Jarvis is more than I could have ever hoped for. It makes freezing my butt off to take the shot totally worth it. What better way to end the week.
Our paper 3D Web-Based Virtual Try On of Physically Simulated Clothes has been published in Computer Aided Design and Applications.
Abstract:
In this paper we present the Virtual Try On (VTO), an online application that assists users in the evaluation of garments in an online shopping scenario. With the VTO users can create a size-correct virtual representation of themselves, allowing them to virtually try on physically simulated garments which can then be animated. We discuss the requirements of web based physically simulated clothes through a discussion of its building blocks: body sizing, motion retargeting and real-time physically based simulation of resizable and customizable garments. We also discuss its place in a CAD chain from 2D pattern data to the final production of actual garments.
This Great Tit (stop it…I know what you’re doing) seemed to be utterly unfazed by the 2m tall, dressed in black, massive guy approaching him (her? The stripe seems to suggest that it’s a male) with his camera. I fear he (she?) could have taken me.
